Minister of the Interior Met Ambassador of Georgia

Minister of the Interior Eimutis Misiūnas today met with Georgian Ambassador to Lithuania Khatuna Salukvadze. During the meeting, bilateral close relations in the area of internal affairs and opportunities of their further development were discussed.

Minister of the Interior congratulated Georgia on the opportunity for its citizens to travel without visas to the 26 EU countries (except the United Kingdom and Ireland) and the associated Schengen area states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).

"Lithuania has always been and is one of the most active supporters of Georgia in its efforts seeking visa-free regime. This is the result and evaluation of your firm commitments and successfully implemented reforms. I wish you to keep the pace and to continue further reforms in other important areas,"– said the Minister.

Ambassador K. Salukvadze, in turn, thanked the Ministry of the Interior for the consistent support and assistance to Georgia in its seeking a visa-free regime with the EU.

During the meeting, the possibilities of closer cooperation while implementing joint projects in the area of road safety were discussed.
