This Protocol was signed by the Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas and the Georgian Minister the Interior Aleksandre Tchikaidze.

„The signed Protocol will create preconditions for settling problems of bilateral cooperation in the fight against illegal migration and will be an input into strengthening public security in Lithuania and Georgia.“ – Minister D. A. Barakauskas states. – „Legal issues on illegal migrants from Georgia, the flow of which is rather big in comparison to our country‘s size, will be regulated. In 2013 alone, 173 citizens of Georgia were sent from Lithuania, 217 persons were temporarily accommodated in the Foreigner Registration Centre in Pabradė, 109 persons were refused entry into territory of Lithuania“.

According the Paragraph 2 of article 18 of the Agreement, the implementing protocols enter into force when the Joint Readmission Committee is informed about them.
