Humanitarian aid is sent to Ukraine

Today, during the meeting of the Government, the draft Government resolution on delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine, prepared by the Ministry of the Interior, was adopted.

The purpose of the resolution is to allow using the government reserve supplies as humanitarian aid to the war actions-stricken Ukraine.

According to the adopted Government resolution, electric blow heaters, rollaway beds, sleeping bags, electric generators, cast iron stoves, tents from the state reserve of civil protection in-kind assistance processed by the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior and wool blankets will be delivered to Ukraine. 

“The Ukrainian people suffering from the war are in extreme need of this in-kind assistance. We shall do everything to deliver this aid to the target groups of people as soon as possible”, – vice-minister of the Interior Elvinas Jankevičius says. 

This humanitarian aid is arranged in consideration of the address of the Head of the European Commission Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection and information received from the European Commission Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) on 13 January 2015.
