During the EU Sport Council it is planned to discuss conclusions on the gender equality in sport, which state that too few women are involved in many areas of sport, particularly among coaches and in the area of sport management. In the conclusions, the member states are invited to consider an opportunity of forming such a policy which would take into account the principle of gender equality. Lithuania plans to support this document.

Sport Council also should accept the resolution on the EU action plan in the sport area for 2014–2017. Lithuania intends to support the document, on the basis of which decisions important for development of sport are adopted in EU.

During the Council, the ministers will hold political debate on the large-scale sporting events, e.g. football championships, arranging. Lithuania plans to speak that it is useful for smaller EU countries to cooperate and divide organizational and financial burden among themselves, and international sport organizations could support initiatives of these countries more actively.
