During the meeting at the Ministry of the Interior (MoI), the existing bilateral contacts and possibilities of developing cooperation in the area of the interior were discussed.

“Let me congratulate you on the occasion of starting your term of diplomatic office in Lithuania. I am glad that bilateral Lithuanian–Chinese relations are strengthening – today the People’s Republic of China is an important partner of Lithuania, and we are eager to broaden and to deepen cooperation”, – Minister S. Skvernelis said.

Minister underlined that in today’s world, when crime does not have borders, bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement institutions and information exchange is extremely important – the Lithuanian law enforcement institutions cooperate with Chinese colleagues via Interpol channels exchanging information on crime investigation and prevention.

Ambassador Wei Ruixing thanked for the input into cooperation and for support to the citizens of the People’s Republic of China who live and work in Lithuania and ensuring their security. He also admitted the importance of the cooperation and expressed intention to develop it and to establish closer contacts between the Lithuanian and Chinese law enforcement institutions.

Ambassador Wei Ruixing is the 9th Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China accredited to Lithuania since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991. He started his activity in Lithuania in April of this year.
