Minister of the Interior Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas attended bilateral meeting with Slovenian Minister of Interior

By the invitation of the Slovenian Minister of the Interior Mr. Boštjan Poklukar, 17-19 April Minister of the Interior Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas is visiting Slovenia.

During the first day of the official visit the Minister had bilateral meeting with his counterpart the Minister of the Interior. Close cooperation in the wide field of public security was discussed. Both countries agree on many issues within the European agenda and share common position regarding the main EU border security and migration policy topics.

“We both are small European countries. We understand each other’s challenges. Therefore, in order to protect our interests and to achieve our goals we need to stay solidary and act in close cooperation. Lithuania immediately responded to Slovenia’s call for help during the migration crisis hoping that one day some solidary country responds to our call if needed. I do believe that mutual understanding and cooperation is crucial.” - said Minister.

On Thursday Lithuanian delegation is visiting  the biggest border crossing point on the Slovenian-Croatian bord and  is getting aquinted with the external Schengen border secure measures. In the afternoon Minister E. Misiūnas will have an official bilateral meeting with the Slovenian Minister of Defense Mr. Karl Erjavec where civil protection measures, hybrid threats and cyber-security policies will be discussed.

The last visit-day Minister will observ special police unit’s exercises and will visit Police Academy in Tacen.
