The Minister assured his Moldovan counterpart that Lithuania would continue to actively cooperate and support Moldova's aspirations for European Union membership. "We are pleased that Moldova is decisively moving forward on the path of European Union integration. Lithuania has consistently and actively supported Moldova's goals, and we will continue to support and share our knowledge and experience in the future to ensure that Moldova’s EU membership process proceeds as smoothly as possible," said Minister Kondratovič. He invited the delegation led by the Moldovan Minister to visit Vilnius soon to familiarize themselves with Lithuania's experience in strengthening public safety, improving border protection, and digitalizing services.
During the conversation, the ministers discussed planned law enforcement projects to be implemented in Moldova from 2025 to 2028. Officers from the Police Department and the State Border Guard Service, together with colleagues from Poland and France, plan to share their expertise on how to strengthen border protection and combat organized crime.
The ministers also spoke about the security challenges faced by both Lithuania and Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine. According to Minister Kondratovič, Lithuania’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression remains a key priority. Since the beginning of the war, the internal affairs system has provided support to relevant Ukrainian institutions, valued at more than 7.5 million euros.
Moldovan Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin thanked Lithuania for the close bilateral relations and emphasized the value of Lithuania's knowledge and experience, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation in Moldova’s pursuit of European Union membership.
