Minister of the Interior Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas signed the letter of presentation to the Government in which the State Border Guard Service under MoI (SBGS) is proposed to be appointed the National Coordination Centre in the now being established European Border Surveillance System EUROSUR.

The EUROSUR system, embracing all the European Union (EU) countries, is being established with the purpose of exchange of information on illegal border crossing and other border incidents between the EU border protecting and monitoring institutions. These information exchange and coordination inside of the country functions in all the EU member states will be carried out by National Coordination Centres.

Appropriate resolution having been adopted by the Government, SBGS under MoI will become the operator of such a centre.
