On the 12th of May, Minister of the Interior Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas had a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr Akin Algan.

During the meeting which took place at the Ministry of the Interior, Ambassador Akin Algan expressed his contentment on the productive course of cooperation between the relative institutions of the two countries. Ambassador paid special thanks to the Minister for the excellent organization of a two-week study visit of the Turkish delegation from the Ministry of the Interior. The visit was organized in April under the EU Leonardo da Vinci Mobility Programme.

Minister D. A. Barakauskas expressed mutual appreciation of the constructive cooperation between the law enforcement institutions of our countries emphasizing the importance of joint effort in fighting transnational organized crime, illegal drug circulation and other forms of serious crime. The Minister expressed his gratitude for the back up during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and wished success to Turkey during further negotiation process for the membership in the EU.

Mr Akin Algan served as ambassador from the year 2012.
