Ties between Lithuanian and Norwegian institutions are strengthened

Yesterday in Vilnius the meeting of the representatives of the Lithuanian and Norwegian public institutions, local and regional authorities, arranged by the Ministry of the Interior, during which the institutional partnership contacts are established, was started.

During the two-day event, the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme LT 10 „Capacity-Building and Institutional Cooperation between Beneficiary State and Norwegian Public Institutions, Local and Regional Authorities“ is presented.

„I am glad that this event brings together representatives of our public institutions, local and regional authorities and our friends – Norwegians, coming to share the priceless experience, insights and new ideas. In 2008, more than 50 projects were implemented with the support of grants of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. It is indeed an excellent basis for growth and development of the cooperation“, – in his welcome speech Vice-Minister of the Interior Julius Morkūnas spoke.

The purpose of the event is to present possibilities of the above programme, to assist in establishing partnership contacts between the Lithuanian and Norwegian institutions which would develop into joint capacity-building and cooperation projects, stimulate more active and closer cooperation of the Lithuanian and Norwegian municipalities, their agencies and institutions.
