On 4 December the ministers of Home Affairs of the European Union (EU) member states considered further actions in the areas of the fight against terrorism, migration crisis management and functioning of the Schengen area.

Today Deputy Secretary General for Public Order and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior of Estonia Raivo Küüt and Head of Border Guard Policy Department Viljar Kärk visited the Ministry of the Interior (MoI).

On 9 November, an extraordinary Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting took place in Brussells. During it, actions of the countries implementing the Council’s decisions on relocation of refugees from Italy and Greece were discussed.

On 29–30 October, the delegation headed by the Vice-Minister of the Interior Artūras Norkevičius visited the Hague, the Kingdom of Netherlands, where got acquainted with the experience of this country in the fight against organized crime and shadow economy.

Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis, this week having met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov in Kiev, agreed on further strengthening of contacts between the Lithuanian and Ukrainian law enforcement institutions and exchange of experience.

Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis today met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Lithuania Claire Lawrence and discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation.

Today Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis participates at the European Union Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg. In response to the refugee crisis in Europe, home affairs ministers of the member states will discuss on the future of the EU external borders management and return policy.

Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis participated in the Extraordinary Justice and Home Affairs Council on 22 September 2015 where an agreement was reached to relocate 120 000 people currently based in Italy and Greece throughout the Member States.

On 17 September Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis met with the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Lithuania Philippe Jeantaud.
