The results of a qualitative study of the vulnerable groups in Lithuania were presented during an event at the Ministry of Interior on the 29th of October. Various organisations from both the public and the private sector participated in the event.

The Minister of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Rita Tamasuniene, has been attending the meeting of the European Union Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council on the 7-8 October in Luxembourg. The main questions discussed in the meeting have been internal security and migration issues.

Sirens will be tested in Lithuania on Tuesday (October 1) morning from 10:15 till 10:18 a.m. A test of the public warning and information system will take place for 18 minutes. Normally, this alert system is tested twice a year, but this year it is also a part of state-level functional exercises.

The Ministry of the Interior is implementing a project "Strengthening response to hate crime and hate speech in Lithuania" and continue the joint training for police officers, prosecutors and judges.

Today Mrs. Rita Tamašunienė has been appointed as a new minister of the Interior. Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis congratulated the new Minister and wished her to seek effective results, constructive collaboration and make the most favorable work conditions for employees in the Ministry.

During the informal meeting of the European Union (EU) Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in Helsinki, Lithuanian and Latvian Ministers of the Interior Eimutis Misiūnas and Sandis Girgens (Ģirģens) signed an agreement between the governments of both countries on the Lithuanian and Latvian border maintenance and activities of border delegates.

With the aim of strengthening the ability to recognize hate crimes and hate speech as well as to ensure effective investigation, prosecution and adequate punishment, the Ministry of the Interior has launched a joint training for police officers, prosecutors and judges.

Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas in Norway is attending the annual meeting of the Ministerial Forum of the Member States of the Schengen Area with External Land Borders.

By the invitation of the Slovenian Minister of the Interior Mr. Boštjan Poklukar, 17-19 April Minister of the Interior Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas is visiting Slovenia.

21–22 March Minister of the Interior Eimutis Misiūnas for the first time visited the EU Judicial Cooperation Agency Eurojust and the EU Law Enforcement Agency Europol in The Hague (the Netherlands).

The Government has approved the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) on amendments to the Law concerning possible withdrawal process of the UK from the European Union (EU).
