A new minister of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania – Mrs. Rita Tamašunienė appointed

Today Mrs. Rita Tamašunienė has been appointed as a new minister of the Interior. Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis congratulated the new Minister and wished her to seek effective results, constructive collaboration and make the most favorable work conditions for employees in the Ministry.

Lithuania and Latvia signed an agreement on state border maintenance

During the informal meeting of the European Union (EU) Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in Helsinki, Lithuanian and Latvian Ministers of the Interior Eimutis Misiūnas and Sandis Girgens (Ģirģens) signed an agreement between the governments of both countries on the Lithuanian and Latvian border maintenance and  activities of border delegates.

Improving skills on combating hate crime more effectively

With the aim of strengthening the ability to recognize hate crimes and hate speech as well as to ensure effective investigation, prosecution and adequate punishment, the Ministry of the Interior has launched a joint training for police officers, prosecutors and judges.

Agreement with Vietnam in order to fight illegal migration

Minister of the Interior Mr. Eimutis Misiūnas signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on Readmission of Persons (hereinafter referred to as the Readmission Agreement) during his official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
