Minister V. Kondratovičius: Lithuania Has Been, Is, and Will Remain Together with Ukraine

Minister of the Interior Vladislavas Kondratovičius met with the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Pivnenko. During the meeting, the parties discussed the security situation in Ukraine, bilateral institutional cooperation, and continued support from Lithuania’s internal affairs system for Ukrainian law enforcement and security personnel.

"Today, officers of the National Guard of Ukraine are defending not only their country and its people. They are also defending the values on which democratic Europe is built. Lithuania understands this very well, which is why our support for Ukraine is not a temporary measure but a long-term commitment. We have stood with Ukraine, we stand with Ukraine today, and we will continue to stand with Ukraine until victory," Minister V. Kondratovičius said.

The relationship between Lithuania and Ukraine is founded on a long-standing partnership, mutual trust, and solidarity. Institutions within Lithuania’s internal affairs system continuously seek opportunities to contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s security and enhancing its operational capabilities.

Support provided by Lithuania’s internal affairs institutions to Ukraine has remained consistent in recent years. In 2025, the total value of assistance exceeded €1.12 million, while in 2026 it reached €1.36 million.

Lithuania has supplied Ukrainian institutions with vehicles, counter-drone systems, protective equipment, demining tools, surveillance equipment, firefighting and rescue gear, as well as other essential technical assistance. In addition, social initiatives are organized for the children of Ukrainian officers and personnel.

During the meeting, Minister V. Kondratovičius reaffirmed that the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania and its subordinate institutions remain committed to providing the support required by Ukraine’s security services and to further strengthening practical cooperation between the two countries.
