Minister V. Kondratovič met with Moldova's Ambassador Emil Druc

Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovič met with the Ambassador of Moldova to Lithuania, Emil Druc. During the meeting, the key cooperation issues were discussed, and the priorities and challenges in the field of internal affairs were presented.
The Minister assured the Ambassador that Lithuania would continue to actively cooperate with Moldova and support its efforts to join the European Union. "Our countries are united by goals based on democratic values. We are pleased that Moldova is steadily, step by step, moving towards becoming an EU member state. We ensure that Lithuania will remain one of the most active supporters and advocates on this path. We are ready to cooperate in the areas of the Ministry of the Interior's expertise and share the experience and lessons we have learned on our way to the European Union," Minister V. Kondratovič said during the meeting.
The Minister of the Interior presented the priorities of the new Government of Lithuania in the field of internal affairs, emphasizing the strengthening of civil security and crisis management, as well as ensuring public safety. He highlighted improving the working conditions of law enforcement agencies, enhancing border protection, and effective migration management, addressing both national and European Union challenges. Minister V. Kondratovič also presented plans to establish a Ministry of Regions and increase the effectiveness of public administration and the state council by strengthening competencies and attracting talent.
The Minister noted that Lithuania's support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression remains a horizontal priority. Since the start of the war, the Ministry of the Interior has provided support to relevant Ukrainian institutions worth over 7.5 million euros.
Ambassador E. Druc thanked Lithuania for the assistance provided when thousands of Ukrainian refugees arrived in Moldova after Russia's war against Ukraine began. He also emphasized the value of Lithuania's knowledge and experience and the importance of strengthening cooperation to help Moldova achieve European Union membership.
Additionally, Minister V. Kondratovič and the Moldovan Ambassador discussed the current security situation and hybrid threats, including the issue of politically motivated criminal prosecution and abuse of international arrest warrants issued through Interpol channels and on a bilateral basis by Russia and Belarus.
